Today

Well, here's a post of the kind you rarely find on my blog: just telling you about my day ;-)
It's my first free day in about a month (work has just gone so crazy busy recently), so decided with some colleagues (all in my extended family since we all missed Christmas and New Year with our real families) to go skiing for a day. Got up at 6 and all that, drove all the way up the mountain just to find that all the slopes were closed due to rain and too much wind. Should have known that warm wind and 14 deg at 7 in the morning is not a good sign for skiiing.
Anyway, there we were at 9 in the morning with nothing to do, what a disappointment, especially after a night hardly sleeping purely due to the excitement (I'm such a kid) that I would be skiing for the first time in my life. But, oh joy, we found a skating rink up there instead, so filled the morning with skating and billiard and then drove all the way back.

I took the afternoon to myself doing nothing (really needed that!). Doing nothing included watching Mel Gibson's 'Apocalypto' (quite impressed!) and an early evening twilight walk on the beach.
Some impressions of the latter (with comments):
Used firework packages on the beach (reminding me we're still early January today even if it's 16 degrees), smiling at a man horse-riding along the waterline (well, I know smiling at strange men in Italy can be problematic, but I was really jealous of him!), the smell of a woman's perfume as she passed me (I recognized which one it was, which probably means my perfume addiction is getting out of hand), a puppy that jumped up on me and seemed very intent on ruining my new sports outfit (puppy was cute enough to be forgiven), the movement and sound of the sea, throwing itself at me like a desperate lover (oh my poetic soul!) (kidding), a couple making out on the beach (why right under the floodlight when there are several kilometers of dark sand at your disposal I don't know), the reflections of the city lights marking the waterline after dark, and some visual impressions, captured on my mobile phone to share with you here:

Following the sky into the dusk

Moving clouds and Christmas lights

Leftover boat

Soon it's talk-on-the-phone, hot shower, warm drink, bedtime time (you know when you're young you just hate being sent to bed early, and when you get older all you want is to finally have the chance to go to bed on time, especially when you know you'll be leaving offshore again anytime soon), and there you go, another out of the about 32000 (hopefully) days in the life of one of the 6.6 billion people on this earth is classified as past. Good night!
